Vocational Counsellor – Grid 11
7.5 hours per week
Monday 8:00am – 3:30pm
Human Services Certificate, one year of experience providing vocational skills training and/or career services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and basic computer skills required.
The Vocational Worker guides clients in performing vocational tasks and coordinates clients’ involvement in work production. Performs safety checks and ensures participants are not placed in an unsafe work situation. Completes random on-line inspections and final check of product before delivery to ensure quality is maintained. Organizes work orders and ensures they are met; ensures customer specifications are met. Completes all aspects of retail sales, including but not limited to, delivery of product to customers. Performs inventory of supplies and monthly inventory of raw materials, work in progress and finished product. This position requires the ability to operate tools and/or machinery including shredder, lawn mower, weed trimmer, skill saw, and regularly lift over 40 lbs.
The Vocational Counselor part of this position will provide full employment-related support to clients with disabilities seeking employment in the community. The role develops, implements, monitors and evaluates training plans designed to meet client’s vocational goals. The Vocational Counselor will be responsible for engagement, continuous assessment and implementation of vocational plans.
