Permanent Part-Time
22.5 hours per week.
Graduate of a recognized Therapist Assistant Diploma program/completion of a Speech Language Assistant course, or other combinations of education, training, and experience. Strong computer skills are essential. Minimum two years’ experience working with children under the supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist. Must have a current criminal record check, negative tuberculin test results, first aid and CPR, valid class 5 drivers’ license and access to reliable transportation.
The therapy assistant provides support to the Speech and Language team. This includes providing direct and indirect client services under the direction of a speech-language pathologist (SLP), in accordance with the goals/objectives/strategies identified by the assigning SLP. Other duties include: creation and maintenance of program materials, contributing to the intake process for the early intervention team, support with scheduling SLP appointments and other program-specific administrative tasks, and other related duties as assigned by the SLP supervisor.
