Rivercity Inclusion Society is looking for a part-time Community Support Worker for our Passages Program! The Community Support Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that allow the participants in the day programs to complete tasks independently and/or with minimal support falling within each person’s capabilities. The Community Support Worker is responsible for assisting the participants with their day to day life skills; that may include social, vocational, leisure, health, and fitness.

This position is 16 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday 9am-1pm, Wednesday 10am-2pm and Friday 9am – 1pm.

Requirements

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 4 Driver’s License will be required upon 90 days of hire)
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Negative TB test results
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
  • Must be willing to swim on a regular basis

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills

  • Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field.
  • Three to six months prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Must display a proven ability to work with individuals calmly and effectively with complex support needs and behaviors.
  • Must display enthusiasm, energy, and a willingness to be flexible in adapting to a varied schedule.
