Nature of Position

Permanent Part-Time: 20 hours per week.
Flexibility in shifts / schedules is an ongoing requirement in this position.

Rate of Pay

As per Collective Agreement – Grid Level 11

Requirements

Current First Aid and CPR, negative TB test results, current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, valid Class 5 Driver’s license with business insurance.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills

  • Graduate or certificate/diploma in human sciences or employment counselling, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Diploma, certificate, or degree in Human Services, Employment Counselling, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, local labour market trends, and community resources.
  • Must have vocational counsellor experience (job developer) and community inclusion experience.
  • LIFE Services experience an asset.
  • Experience developing employment and support plans and providing workplace training.
  • Understanding of person-centered services, natural supports, and supporting individuals with diverse abilities, including FASD and autism.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexible to meet service and employer needs, including occasional evening and weekend work.

Duties/Responsibilities can include but not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate person-centered employment and support plans.
  • Support individuals in achieving employment goals through resume development, job searches, applications, interview preparation, job coaching, and workplace support.
  • Facilitate regular goal review meetings and monitor progress toward individual outcomes.
  • Provide job site training and build positive relationships with employers and community partners.
  • Identify and create employment opportunities that align with individual strengths and employer needs.
  • Support skill development, community inclusion, lifelong learning, and increasing independence.
  • Connect individuals with community resources and opportunities that promote personal growth and employment success.
  • Provide support to individuals with diverse abilities using a variety of teaching and learning approaches.
  • Travel throughout the community using a personal vehicle to support individuals in workplace and community settings.
