Nature of Position

We are looking for a temporary Infant Development Consultant to provide services to developmentally delayed infants and their families at our Dogwood Place Child and Youth Development Center.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A flexible approach to supporting children and families, be very well organized and understand the various resources and community programs available;
  • A high level of understanding regarding child development and the impact of disability and delay on growth and development;
  • The ability to support families in addressing those issues within a family-centred model;
  • Experience of working with infants and children with developmental delays within a consulting home visiting model;
  • Demonstrated practical experience in exercising independent judgment and initiative;
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills (written and verbal, including presentation and facilitation skills);
  • The ability to work as an effective team member on a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Knowledge of and experience of working with community agencies;
  • The personal qualities and attitudes as expected under the four pillars of – Respect – Fairness – Belonging – Inclusion

Requirements:

  • A degree in a field related to child development or the equivalent.
  • Experience of working with children 0-3 years with developmental delays, within a family context.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the principles and practices of family cantered practice.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $38.68 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
